The Death Of An Actress

Has anybody heard about the death of an actress?
I bet you haven't 'cause it wasn't even front page news.
She was all washed up on drugs and alcohol
And the critics said she was nothing but a painted doll.

To which I say, in defence of an actress,
She was better than Betty Davis or Norma Gene.
Newfound wealth brings newfound temptations.
Said the note she left on her sideboard by the gong,

"As I take my final bow, as I face the curtain call,
I have loved, oh how I've loved you all."

Has anybody heard about the life of an actress?
She was the daughter of a carpet beater and a car salesman.
She started out as an extra on the set
And within six months she was lauded as the best thing yet.

Twenty five years and two oscars later
She was badly scarred by a crash in a limousine.
But the pain killers really helped to keep her sane
As she hid her face in a chateau by the Seine.

"As I take my final bow, as I face the curtain call,
I have loved, oh how I've loved you all."
